Curators of change forum
In celebration of Black History Month, the first “Curators of Change Forum” was held on February 1st of 2023 inside Chartway Arena at Old Dominion University. The hour-long interactive panel discussion focused on the topics of mental health, career development, and overcoming adversity.
For this production, Demel fulfilled the roles of Host, Executive Producer, Director, Marketing Strategist, Casting Director, Talent Manager, and Content Specialist.
The evening’s festivities kicked off with a performance by saxophonist Jordan Crichlow, who delivered a rendition of Kendrick Lamar’s “Alright.”
Alongside Demel, the discussion included:
Antoine Bethea: Super Bowl XLI champion & Walter Payton Man of the Year Award Winner.
Dominick Fink: Former NFL cheerleader & coach of the Old Dominion University Dance Team.
Bruce Stewart: Deputy Athletic Director & Chief Operating Officer of Old Dominion University Athletics.
Imo Essien: Point Guard of the Old Dominion University Men’s Basketball Team.
Following the conversation, proceeded a Q&A session where the audience had an opportunity to directly engage with the panel.
To conclude the production, the Ebony Impact Choir of Old Dominion University performed their renditions of “Revelations 19:1” and “Melodies from Heaven.”
